Do You Miss In-Person Courses?

Blog In Person 6.27.25

There’s something special about gathering in a room with colleagues, exchanging ideas, practicing hands-on techniques, and learning from expert instructors in real time. While virtual education offers flexibility and accessibility, many pelvic health practitioners are eager to get back to the connection, feedback, and tactile learning that only in-person courses can provide.

If you’re ready to step back into a live classroom, Herman & Wallace has a robust lineup of in-person courses designed to sharpen your clinical skills, deepen your understanding of pelvic health, and connect you with a like-minded community of learners.

Here are some of the in-person courses currently offered:

Pelvic Function Series (In Person)

PF Series

This progressive pathway is ideal for clinicians looking to build their foundation and then layer on advanced skills.

  • Pelvic Function Level 1 – A great entry point into pelvic rehabilitation, this foundational course provides a whole-body framework to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction. You’ll gain essential hands-on skills and clinical reasoning strategies.
  • Pelvic Function Level 2A, 2B, and 2C – These courses dive deeper into the muscular, fascial, and neurological systems affecting pelvic function. Each level builds upon the previous one, covering complex diagnoses and interventions with plenty of lab time for integration.
      • Level 2A – Expand your skills in colorectal pelvic health, pudendal neuralgia, and coccyx pain
      • Level 2B – Expand your skills in pelvic pain, urogynecologic examinations, and treatment options
      • Level 2C – Expand your skills in men’s pelvic health and rehabilitation
  • Modalities and Pelvic Function – Want to add tools like biofeedback, electrical stimulation, or dry needling to your practice? This course teaches the safe and effective use of modalities within the context of pelvic rehab and pelvic pain.

Calling All Course Hosts!

Calling All Course Hosts!

NL HOST CTA 5.4.24

We are preparing for a busy second half of the year, and are seeking hosts for our satellite and in-person course offerings. If you'd like to cut down on travel and earn a free course registration, consider hosting a course with us this year! Satellites require a minimum space for 16 attendees, and in-person courses need to be able to accommodate 30+.

We always want to hear from those interested in hosting our courses. We work with healthcare organizations of all types, sizes, and locations. Please, Contact us about hosting Pelvic Function Level 1 or any other course!

There are two formats of course which you can host, and they are described below.

Satellite Lab Courses (such as those in the Pelvic Function Series)
This is when the instructor presents lectures remotely via Zoom to several satellites at once for a scheduled course date while on-site teaching assistants guide participants at each given location with questions and labs.

Satellite lab events can be great for clinics that have space for 16+ participants, and the following equipment:

  • One lab table for every two participants (minimum eight)
  • One chair for each participant to use during the lectures
  • Either an LCD projector and projection screen OR a large television (minimum of 52" screen)
  • Laptop with Zoom downloaded and up-to-date, and any necessary cables to connect the laptop to the projector/TV
  • Speakers that are loud enough for the full room to clearly hear the instructor. We DO NOT recommend Bluetooth speakers.

In-Person Courses (such as Modalities and Pelvic Function)
At in-person courses, registrants, teaching assistants, and instructors gather at a single location for lectures and labs. In-person hosts who are located in densely populated areas are prioritized and who have a demonstrated history of successfully hosting courses.

In-person courses can be great for clinics that have space for 30+ participants, including one instructor and 2-3 teaching assistants, and the following equipment:

  • One lab table for every two participants (minimum eight)
  • One chair for each participant to use during the lectures
  • A lapel microphone for the instructor to use during lecture
  • Speakers that are loud enough for the full room to clearly hear the instructor. We DO NOT recommend Bluetooth speakers.

Remote Courses
Remote courses take place entirely on Zoom and do not gather in lab groups. However, if there is enough interest in taking a course, it is possible to host one of these courses as an in-person course.

HWConnect Promo 2

Hello Practitioners!

This Monday I would like to share a very special invitation with you. Join us in Seattle, WA for HWConnect 2023 - the first-ever conference from Herman & Wallace, the leading provider of continuing education to pelvic rehabilitation professionals. HWConnect 2023 will run Friday, October 6 - Sunday, October 8 and comprises 10+ contact hours of continuing education.

The Saturday night Keynote Presentation will be given by Diane Lee, an internationally-recognized expert with 40 years of clinical experience in thoracic, lumbar, and pelvic disability and pain. Diane will be delivering our Saturday night keynote address and will be presenting her latest research on diastasis rectus abdominis.

Registration includes access to all scheduled lectures and receptions, as well as a Teachable (a digital learning platform) course which will contain additional resources and a conference manual. Cocktail receptions will follow the speakers on Friday and Saturday evenings, so attendees will have a chance to have fun and socialize with each other, HW faculty, and conference presenters.

We have secured a room block and special pricing for registrants of this conference. Staying at the host hotel will be the most convenient option, so we highly encourage everyone to make arrangements via this URL before the room block is full!

After years of pandemic quarantine and Zoom meetings, we feel the need to gather together and connect our community again. HW Connect is an opportunity to meet with colleagues and friends old and new, and a unique chance to learn new skills and information from some of the leading voices in our field. Speakers will cover a range of topics related to pelvic rehab.

We’re several years into our COVID pivot, and while the remote and satellite learning options work great for delivering education, what’s missing is the opportunity to connect face-to-face with our community. Participants miss the chance to gather in person, and so do we.

HWConnect is a chance for friends and colleagues old and new to connect with one another and with some of the founding pioneers in our industry. Putting on a big conference is something we’ve wanted to do for years. After two years of Zoom meetings, now is the time.

We can’t wait to connect with you in October!
